My Origins:
I have had a love for people and animals since childhood and attribute this to the incredible women in my family. In many ways they were ahead of their times and beautiful caretakers. I am grateful to have learned how to love others through service allowing me the privilege of doing this wonderful work.
I graduated from North Texas State University now University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1987 and worked in mental health and social services for many years before going back to school. I received a master’s degree in Social Work from Texas A&M Commerce in 2007. Having had experience in social services and life my graduate degree was delightful. I can remember wanting to clap during class as we talked about social justice and advocacy. Truly a life changing process for me! I have over 30 years’ experience in social services and mental health treatment and am still continuing to learn about the human condition daily.
Specialty:
I have a deep love for the human condition and a passion for serving those with grief and loss, chronic mental illness, the LGBTQIA+ community, anxiety, depression, and substance use in both adults and adolescents.
